My conclusions are many states are just beginning to restrict social contact and have high infection rates.
"Governor DeSantis sent President Trump a letter on Monday asking that he declare a Major Disaster as Florida responds to COVID-19."

But, the governor was not implementing a defensive measure like stay at home when "he declare a Major Disaster."

Currently, 03/25/20

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is under intense pressure over what critics are calling a slow response to the coronavirus outbreak in the state as the number of cases nears 1,700.

While other governors like New York’s Andrew Cuomo (D) and Maryland’s Larry Hogan (R) have received high marks for their swift responses to the virus, DeSantis has faced backlash for his lack of early action on closing the state’s crowded beaches and not issuing a statewide stay-at-home or shelter-in-place order.
===

Today,

Florida lawmakers call on DeSantis to enforce statewide shelter-in-place order - ...The lawmakers are urging the governor to issue the shelter-in-place order to protect those most vulnerable to the virus and for the support and protection of the health care system.
..
..

Florida is heavily populated with seniors...consequences, consequences...

Like deer in the headlights - no excuse for not taking 'drastic' action already weeks ago, let alone now. Those people will pay a higher price as a result. Still many are calling this blown out of proportion, all kinds of conspiracy theories. The result of decades of erosion.
Meanwhile, on the upside, did a satisfying service on our 2008 C70 the other day.

My opinion - we are not doing well controlling infection spread. We need to do more to control this virus.
The US is well on the way to having a coronavirus outbreak worse than China's or even Italy's

The World Health Organization has said that the US could become the next center of the global coronavirus outbreak.

Data suggests that in China and Italy, the countries most severely affected by the outbreak, strict quarantining measures seemed to work, slowing the spread of the disease.

Data also indicates that new infections in the US are growing so fast that the total could soon surpass both China's and Italy's totals.

Federal and state governments have taken only a patchwork approach to curbing the spread of the virus.

Today's top news story (or it should be) - US now has more CORVID-19 cases than any other country in the world. We must take more steps to slow the spread of this virus. See https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

My thought for the day: personal and business economic losses are temporary, death is permanent.

Report on how my family is responding and coping with COVID-19:
We are staying home most of the time and going out only for groceries, supplies and necessary errands. I have planted a Safe at Home, Coronavirus, victory garden to supply vegetables. As long as the power and internet stays on and groceries are available, we can continue this plan. We do not have jobs so do not worry about work from home problems.

It would be great to see gardening come back. We could push the cost of food down and curtail the spread of lots of different foodborne pathogens. Russia get 40 - 50% of their food from gardens. In a pinch they have pushed it to 90%.

Fundamental safety principle that works: minimize the risk with smaller packages or smaller distribution areas.

The Guvnor of Montana has issued a Stay-at-Home Directive, effective midnight Friday. Essential businesses and workers are exempt.

We have been staying home anyway. My spouse was furloughed with no warning and no access to vacation pay. I work at home anyway. We walk, we walk our son's new puppy, we putter in the gardens, we cook, we fret over the news. We keep her 86 yr old mother from playing bridge or sneaking out to dinner with her friends.

Appreciate all the informed science information being provided.

A woman on the Newshour tonight fully endorsed the concept of distraction, especially for the kids being overwhelmed with all the worry and speculation.
