I've always believed that trio of options on a V70 R would make it Peak Unicorn in the Volvo world.

How about this one on Vancouver Island. Doesn't look too bad in the pictures. About 130k miles and around $7000 USD.

Because they're neither trained mechanics nor combustion design engineers. And don't understand that cooler fresh air, even if the filter + air ducts are slightly more restrictive, is usually better for performance than less restricted superheated air that's drawn from inside the engine bay. Because hot air=less dense->lower compression->lower performance. And it's not like the companies marketing those aftermarket filters are going to tell them: the business model practically depends on people buying into their misleading/false performance claims without knowing better.

They do not tell their filters let larger particles pass. Which are like sandpaper to the engine internals. Shortens the lifespan of the engine. This is why I never use or recommend K&N. But boy they look cool and that is what counts for some people.

Plus it makes the turbo sound louder... and isn't that all that matters?

But WOW that's expensive. It looks like a really clean car, but seems to be way overpriced considering the "upgrades". Maybe $5,000 USD.

850R's are now selling for well north of $10000 for well cared for examples. Anyone see the Wheeler Dealer episode with the 850R? Ir sold for I think more than $14000. In Europe they are even more than that!

Not saying that this one is worth that, but hey........

Ugh, that Wheeler Dealers episode made me mad... I don't know how he thought he bought it at a good price, then he sold it for an absolutely astronomical price! I mean, they did the right things with the car, but the numbers were outrageous.
I see the value in a really nice 850R/T-5R, but like you said, albeit nice, this isn't perfect.
