I don't know why anyone would take the idea of 'back to normal by Easter' even remotely seriously. I like Dr Fauci's statement on that: "We don't make the schedule, the virus makes the schedule".

Redux....Perhaps!

“Lying gives him a deep and subtle pleasure, so deep and subtle he
does not know he is lying; he thinks he is the most truthful of
princes.”

Hilary Mantel, The Mirror & the Light

Plot
The Mirror & The Light covers the period following the death of Anne
Boleyn in 1536. It documents Cromwell’s ascent to the pinnacle of his
riches and power, followed by his fall from royal favour and his
public execution at Tower Hill in 1540.

In 2007, there was an SBIR to develop a $3000 vent,

In 2013 Covidian bought the company and killed the program, no prizes for guessing why.

They advertising for a PR Director, “ must own Kevlar”

I would not consider this person rumor prone:

Footnote - "Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City has been a community of world-class physicians, researchers and educators..."

I respect this type of news reporting

NYT: March 27, 2020 - More Americans Should Probably Wear Masks for Protection
Experts have started to question whether masks may offer at least some protection to healthy individuals and essential workers.
...
...
“If everyone in the community wears a mask, it could decrease transmission,” Dr. Fishman said. “But unfortunately I think that we don’t have enough masks to make that effective policy in the U.S.”
Even Doctors aren’t immune from self promotion. The CDC TWITTERED in response to his twitter that th year are NOT amending their guidelines as he reported. As a health professional he should be ashamed of himself. We don’t need guidance from 100,000 different sources flaunting their badges

I get most of my information from my niece who is a molecular biophysics. She spent decades in Kazakhstan designing and building Vaccine labs. One of her colleague, a virologist, has a Q&A on Quora. Good reading if you want some qualified straight talk for a change.

Your response is based upon one tweet, not behind the scenes discussions...nor does it consider the word "expected," which he used. In short, your belief is biased since relevant details were not exposed.

Masks are in short supply, but medically speaking, it would be prudent for those who must associate with others inside buildings, public transport, sidewalks, etc., to wear a mask in a known infected area.

Moreover, I cited that tweet above, "A San Francisco health officer shot 3 people when one refused to wear a mandatory face mask," in which the article was making the point that masks were used in 1918 flu to flatten the curve. In one news article, it was indicated, "March 12, 2020 - The Hong Kong government and leading health experts also recommend wearing masks as a way to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which the WHO declared a global pandemic on Wednesday."

Consequently, CDC knows masks are in short supply, and may have oscillated on recommending mask usage for the public. As noted before, "March 17 - First, many health experts, including the surgeon general of the United States, told the public simultaneously that masks weren’t necessary for protecting the general public and that health care workers needed the dwindling supply."

Thus, protecting health care workers, when masks are in short supply, is a logical reason for CDC's current position. If you can establish that CDC has never considered wearing mask for public, as @DrMattMcCarthy implied, please cite your source.

We don’t need people running out and buying medical stuff when they should be home where you don’t need them.

They need to be saved for LEO, health services , and people who are exposed by virtue of necessity.

Doctors are not experts in public health, they are part of that expertise

"A San Francisco health officer shot 3 people when one refused to wear a mandatory face mask..."

Shooting three people when only one was violating a health dictate is good policy. That would flatten any line on any graph, if used widely.
