S70 SAS delete

Post by shegarty »

Hi all, hope everyone is well and keeping busy. I'm finally catching up on some overdue maintenance issues on my 98 S70 among other things. The SAS pump has been bad for a number of years and throws a code every now and then when it tries to activate. Upon inspection all the mounts for the pump have broken off and its hanging rather precariously. I am of the opinion that I should delete as many of the failed physical components but I don't think I am going to worry about the diode procedure as I don't have the parts right now. I've found a few posts on here and on volvospeed that detail the components to be removed (not the relay and the solenoid) but will I run into any issues other than the CEL if I do this? I don't really care about the CEL as it is almost always on due to an EVAP leak that I can't be bothered to sort out.

You just need to cap,off the manifold port so you don’t have a deadly exhaust leak

Yep, I read that it is the same thread size as the oil pan drain ... I think I have a spare somewhere
