April 9, 2020: WSJ Paywall - Haywire Immune Response Eyed in Coronavirus Deaths, Treatment

Researchers are looking at treatments to suppress ‘cytokine storm,’ increasingly linked to the most severe Covid-19 cases

An immune system gone haywire may be doing more damage than the coronavirus itself in patients with the severest forms of Covid-19, doctors and scientists say, a growing theory that could point the way to potential treatments.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
State growth rates for April 9, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: South Dakota (0.22), Rhode Island (0.20), New Mexico (0.18), Minnesota (0.18), and Oklahoma (0.17).
Looking at the last 5 days moving average, the top 5 states are: South Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, Minnesota, and Maryland. South Dakota has 447 cases, Delaware 1209 cases, and Rhode Island 1717 cases.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.084 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.087.

The top 5 states in cases per 1 Million population are: New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
The top 5 states in deaths per 1 Million population are: New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, Michigan, and Connecticut.
The top 5 states in tests per 1 Million population are: New York, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Stay safe out there.

Has this been posted already? This is the NIH Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton Montana (yes, Montana). They have some amazing electron microscope photographs of the virus, on cells in the lab harvested from the first US patient. They say it's informative for research, and for laymen (me) to get a look at the "invisible enemy."

NY reporting - another bad day for deaths, >700 but slightly down from yesterday.

ICU and Admissions are BOTH down 15% from day before for both yesterday and the 5 day average continues to fall.

This is good news.

^ This. Kansas will be hurting in a week. They removed their max 10-person religious gathering mandate for the big Easter weekend coming up.
I think we can track that with the data I am gathering. I grew up in Kansas and have family there. (sigh)

How about being political?

Wisconsin Health Officials Announce Plan To Track Voters After Tuesday’s Election

Refresher: The Supreme Court Fails Us - The five conservative justices refused to extend the deadline for absentee ballots in Wisconsin in the middle of the pandemic.

Many states have privacy laws, so would the data gathered from this "surveillance" be opened to epidemiologists to evaluate?

GOP has an interest in not allowing absentee ballots.

April 06, 2020. Kansas now has 11 coronavirus clusters across six counties. Three of the 11 are tied to church gatherings. That is 27% of the clusters, what will it be in a couple of weeks ...

April 10, 2020 Identified another church coronavirus cluster in Sedgwick County. Now 4/12 or 33.333%
