More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.

State growth rates for April 10, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.88), South Dakota (0.32), Kentucky (0.23), Minnesota (0.18), and Rhode Island (0.17). I found no records that Virgin Islands or South Dakota have Shelter in Place orders. Kentucky, Minnesota, and Rhode Island all have Shelter in Place orders since about March 27. South Dakota now has 536 cases.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.079 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.084.

April 10, 2020 Treasury, IRS to Launch “Get My Payment” Web App Next Week

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of the Treasury and IRS will launch the “Get My Payment” web application next week. The FREE app—which will be found at IRS.gov—will allow taxpayers who filed their tax return in 2018 or 2019 but did not provide their banking information on their return to submit direct deposit information. Once they do, they will get their Economic Impact Payments in their bank accounts quickly, instead of waiting for a check to arrive in the mail. “Get My Payment” will also allow taxpayers to track the status of their payment.

“Get My Payment” is an online app that will display on any desktop, phone or tablet. It does not need to be downloaded from an app store.

I have updated earlier charts for several states with calculated CORVID-19 infection growth rates. These are selected coastal and central states that I have been watching. I have added notes when these states initiated Shelter at Home type orders. The gap in all of the data was for March 31 when I did not gather data.

The trends are interesting. All states have general improvements, but some are doing much better than others. The coastal states have more consistent results, which might be because they have more cases. However, Texas now has 10,230 cases which is more than Washington with 9652 cases.

The coastal states all have latest 5 day growth rates less than 0.90. New York is 0.083. California is 0.085, Washington is 0.057, and New Jersey is 0.088.

Most Midsouth states have latest 5 day growth rates greater than 0.10. The exception is Colorado at 0.67 (Colorado started shelter in place a week earlier on March 23. The others are Kansas at 0.102, Oklahoma at 0.109, and Texas at 0.116.

Draw you own conclusions from this information.

I have not been paying attention to this thread. So if this has already been discussed sorry. The drive through testing (at least local Jacksonville) is limited to 1000 a week, and costs $1,400 to you or your insurance company. Also you must get medical approval to even be tested! If this is the case nationwide, this could make the numbers reported useless. So those of us that have top insurance, no problem! What about the everyone else???
Basically a small bottle brush is inserted through your nose down to your throat. It was quite unpleasant. June

Oh, forgot to mention the population of Jacksonville is over 900,000 people! And only 1000 a week can be tested??? June

I know this state does its own testing, and there are private labs testing; but I don't know when state health officials are involved if state or private labs are testing these other people associated with a case.

Medicare is paying anywhere from $36 to $51 for the actual test, so it would appear the private sector is profiting if $1,400.00 or so is charged.

People without insurance, can be tested at "no cost, said Karen Pollitz, a senior fellow at the Kaiser Family Foundation, which recently released an issue brief on private insurance coverage of the coronavirus."

I knew someone would be smarter and know more than the Mayo Clinic... I was given those answers I reported by the Mayo when I was setting up my test. I did get tested yesterday at the mayo and it cost my insurance $1,400. There was no "free" option. Also I am not part of a ongoing exposure. I simply became sick with the markers required, therefore it became my choice to go to Mayo Emergency room, or the drive through the next day. I chose the drive through. I still have not been contacted about my test results. It may take up to 48 hours. June

I don't see anybody knocking Universal health care or Medicare for all now when it is needed the most. Private sector sure in the hell is not stepping up to the plate and managing this well. When this is all over. How long will it take idiots to resume idiotic behavior?

When people get to read the accounts of states and the Federal government bidding against each other for vents, masks, gowns, and gloves, if the Fed doesn’t move forward with public health care, the wealthy States will do it on their own. Opting out if the Federal system will then force the issue for the rest of country.

Last I knew, test is about 84% accurate, and there must be enough virus swabbed.

On March 15, Bloomberg estimated that commercial tests will cost between $50 and $100, according to physicians.

Imho, it would be much cheaper to buy a pulse oximeter. I had to buy a higher priced one since cheap ones were sold out on Amazon. When SpO2 (peripheral capillary oxygen saturation) drops to 94% for a normal healthy person, they may have an issue.

I don't know current testing policy in Florida, but here's a news story dated MAR 4, 2020
