88 Volvo 765 tic Spark Plugs

Post by lummert »

I forgot to ask if Bosch Platinum spark plug are good to use in my B230FT. I have owned the care since OCT 05 and have driven less than 10K miles since then. I have had subzero starting problems since then too. I thought I would check the spark plugs today while it was not so cold outside. I found Bosch Platinum spark plugs and they looked like new. Should I leave these in or replace them with copper core spark plugs?

Thanks in advance for any input on this.

I have used them for years with no problems. The red engine seems to have no problems like the white engines, i.e. 5 cyl FWD.

I will give these platinum plugs a chance. I had used platinum plugs in the past in an 80 VW Dasher Diesel Wagon that I replaced with a 1.7 L from a 80 Dodge Omni with a 74 Audi Fox Intake with Weber carb. and Audi Fox exhaust manifold and downpipe. I didn't think the platinum plugs worked well in that combo. This is my first Volvo but I have always wanted one.

How many miles are platinum plugs good for? Thanks for your input on this.

I would guess 50K miles, but I almost forget about them as the wear is so minimal.
