2015.5 xc60 t6 awd code P0306 cylinder 6 misfire

Post by Drwanzo »

I just received this car thursday and have 3 days left on my money back guarantee. This morning CEL comes on and shows a p0306 cylinder 6 misfire. Should be covered under warranty. My question is does this engine have the same issues with disintegrated spark plugs and oil consumption that earlier xc models have had. I really like this car would love to keep it but hoping this isn't a sign of a future major issue with this vehicle.

It could be really bad things but my money is on water in #6 spark plug hole since it is a used vehicle that likely had underhood pressure washing and detailing done. It often takes a while before the water gets boiled an steams the spark plug boot few times and then the spark shorting begins. The top engine cover pops off with an upward tug and the coils are held by 8mm (5/16" also works perfectly) bolts. #6 is the driver's side/transmission end last cylinder.

I pulled the #6 plug and it was burnt up. I noticed that the ceramic was cracked and a piece was missing. Replaced all plugs as they seem to be original. Replaced with Bosch iridium 9615 and added a fuel stabilizer. I am still unsure if there is an underlying issue and atleast hope it would manifest itself in the next 100 days of my warranty. Or just return it to the dealer with 2 days on my money back guarantee
