Scary topic for me,I have no spleen to fight off infection,1 good lung and I am a previous smoker,I quit 2 years ago,so i have COPD as well.I have been out twice in 2 months but wore protection,I know it would wipe me out fairly quick.I have a bad MVA followed by a helicopter crash all in 1 hours time.I have the helicopter crash to thank for the weak lung because my right lung collapsed from one of my ribs going through it and spleen being removed because it burst after the helicopter crashed.

or the 12 years of the great depression ?
It is my understanding that the Federal Reserve has learned a great deal about how to manage recessions since the great depression. I hope the Fed can manage whatever this becomes. However, I think they have already used most of their best bullets - interest rate reductions.
I agree the $1200 per individual/ $2500 per couple one time payment will not begin to help most people. I hope that the self employed can get some benefits like regular employees. The original idea to cut payroll taxes was terrible. Too late and no help to self employed.
Wish I could give you more encouragement.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - At least one victim of the coronavirus pandemic

Health care workers took a stand against protesters opposing the
coronavirus lockdown in Colorado

"Go to China if you want communism," a protester shouted at a health
care worker in Denver on Sunday.

Note - Idiot protester and these protesters are "conservative" hoodlums being called up to protest. I sincerely hope some of these hoodlums had Covid-19, and have passed it on to other protesters. Then, they change their "belief," especially when family members are taken out.

Judge rules Kansas can't limit religious gatherings

A federal judge has blocked an order by Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly (D)
restricting in-person religious assemblies to no more than 10 people
in an effort to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
...
...
Broomes's ruling does not lift restrictions on religious services
entirely, instead ordering churches and houses of worship to abide by
social distancing rules such as standing six feet apart and eschewing
the use of collection plates.

Kelly responded to the judge's ruling by calling it "preliminary."

volvolugnut wrote: 20 Apr 2020, 08:39 More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
State growth rates for April 20, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Arkansas (0.186) with 1971 cases, Iowa (0.155) with 3159 cases, Nebraska (0.122) with 1648 cases, Ohio (0.120) with 12,919, and Connecticut (0.110) with 19,815 cases. Arkansas and Connecticut had significant growth rate increases in the last couple days. South Dakota has shown great improvement and dropped to 30 in the ranking.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0431 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.0404. This is not population or case number weighted. Daily new cases and daily death both appear to have stabilized at about flat numbers.

Stay safe out there. Keep your family close and others at a distance.

FWIW (IMHO) - I suspect in general that those taken to hospitals have no antibodies before being infected, and those staying at home or those without symptoms have antibodies which can act upon Covid-19 within their bodies before being infected. That said, if I were hospitalized, I would request IV-Vitamin C first, then two hours later, remdesivir. IV-Vitamin C would dilate vessels, so remdesivir could be absorbed better.

I would also be taking small amounts of Vitamin C now, 250mg daily (500mg every two or four days would suffice)...there are foods like strawberries that work just fine...excess Vitamin C is excreted via kidneys.

If Your Neighbor Gets COVID-19, Does Your Landlord Have To Tell You?

The question has bedeviled New York City tenants and property owners

someone in a building has contracted the virus or died from it.
Likewise, tenants are not legally obligated to inform their building's
owner or manager if they get sick---despite some attempts from
landlords to mandate such disclosures.

BFI WORKING PAPER APR 19, 2020

Misinformation During a Pandemic

We study the effects of news coverage of the novel coronavirus by the
two most widely-viewed cable news shows in the United States---Hannity
and Tucker Carlson Tonight, both on Fox News---on viewers' behavior
and downstream health outcomes. Carlson warned viewers about the
threat posed by the coronavirus from early February, while Hannity
originally dismissed the risks associated with the virus before
gradually adjusting his position starting late February.

We first validate these differences in content with independent coding
of show transcripts. In line with the differences in content, we
present novel survey evidence that Hannity's viewers changed behavior
in response to the virus later than other Fox News viewers, while
Carlson's viewers changed behavior earlier. We then turn to the
effects on the pandemic itself, examining health outcomes across
counties.

First, we document that greater viewership of Hannity relative to
Tucker Carlson Tonight is strongly associated with a greater number of
COVID-19 cases and deaths in the early stages of the pandemic. The
relationship is stable across an expansive set of robustness tests.

Trump and the astroturf protests: An ugly, cynical new strategy to divide America

Stoking divisions and driving a new explosion in the pandemic: Republicans think they can win through sheer chaos
...
...
As Salon's Sophia Tesfaye has reported, these "protests" are actually organized by astroturf groups modeled on the Tea Party protests more than a decade ago:

Pro-gun activists have gotten in on the act as well. It's an astroturf Tea Party reunion tour. If there's one thing that riles up the right wing, it's apparently the government trying to save lives.

Trump has personally praised the protesters, as has Vice President Pence, even as they both pretend to care about their new guidelines for opening up the country.

I thought the topic said " No Politics", yours is sure starting to sound like it when you start talking about Republicans and dragging the President into the mix, this paragraph you wrote could get heated very easily.Just my point of view,I could comment but I will reserve my opinion because this thread was supposed to be strictly about the Corona Virus and the impact it has on our daily lives, and I totally understand,we are all supposed to be friends here and talk about this without getting political but your entire topic and everything mentioned in it is political.Just my opinion,no pun intended.
