Second owner of a rather well maintained 1999 V70 AWD 2.4l Turbo with 130,000 miles. Car was operating very well at date of purchase three years ago.
As of now, age is starting to show, namely transmission issues...
History:
2 years ago: radiator cracked and replaced, engine ticking noise that comes and goes (lifters?)
4 months ago: acceleration became noticeably lethargic, shifting seemed laggy and hard (boost from turbo seems to have disappeared)
3.5 months ago: while driving, wagon went into limp mode, flashing arrow on dash accompanied by check engine light. Code read, P0756, solenoid B stuck in off.
week ago: Solenoid replaced, ATF(originally black, burnt and metallic) drained and refilled. Car is shifting better but still seems lethargic, as if boost is completely absent. I'm also planning on having the transmission rebuilt because I believe it has sustained damage (reason for metallic shimmer and metal grains
Today: on test drive, the flashing arrow light and check engine light both came back on. ATF is burnt again. Car revs up when in drive as if it is in neutral, but will coast on level ground.
Should a transmission rebuild fix the problem?
I'm not sure what might cause it to overheat so much. Radiator and cooling lines seem fine. No fluid leaks either.
Thank you for your help, Ben
P.S. Hope everyone is staying healthy!

Ben, I’ve got a decent used 4 speed AT up here in Albany
If you want to keep the car on the road you can do a AT swap in a long weekend.
I know the history on it, bought it from a user here.
