The after screw of the power steering pump is no fun.
Haven’t worked on power steerings yet: can I loosen the line that connects to the top of the pump to swivel it out of the way?
One way clutch or pulley?

I haven’t done this work on a XC90 ( only S80 and LR2)
When Isaac changed the belt and pulley on his XC90 he moved the pump to the side as far as I can see

If you remove the connection to the pump you will lose the fluid and I recommend that you replaced the O ring on the high pressure side (it is a source of leaks, I wouldn’t reuse it if you separate it)
Good luck
Paul

I just don't know how to get to the screw on the lower after side. (in the picture the lines are different, but housing is the same.)
Will there be pressure on the power steering line? Or should I be able to quickly seal it off with duct tape without loosing much fluid?

No pressure
Just gravity.
For my LR2 and S80 the reservoir is higher than the pump.
If you make the reservoir the same level as the pump you may not lose much
Good luck

This is how Isaac did it

Thank you. Without the hint to try it in the gap between cable harness and frame, I wouldn’t have made it. And I am still not done, so keep fingers crossed.
For anyone who is reading it: I’ll encourage you to try it. The last time I worked on cars was 20 years ago with my brother on 70s Mercedes with plenty of space under the hood. All I have is a basic toolset in a townhouse garage.
One idea I’d like to share is to hook up the AC compressor. It relieves strain on the hoses and conveniently keeps it out your way.

Any idea what to do if the plastic center guide pin breaks off when pulling the power steering pump from the coupling?
