What is it - Wet under rear passenger seat

Post by PainterPaul »

So a little back story on the car.
The guy I bought the 2004 s60 r from is an accountant that let it sit for a long time and walked to his office.
It only has 110,000 miles.

I’ve installed a new battery.
replaced the Bad starter cable to the fuse box.

The sun roof drains were clogged.
Cleared them.

Dried out the carpet.

Today I noticed that the carpet in the rear passenger seat is wet again.

If it’s not from the sun roof cause it’s draining properly,
Where could it be coming from?

Thanks

Check the coolant level, it could be a leaky heater core

When you get a lot of water under the front mats, it always travels under the seat to the rear ones. If you park the car on an incline backwards, the rear sunroof drains also need cleared. You need perhaps a new amplifier, $50 off Ebay. May also check your climate module drain www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH5kWCXzM98

Just watched a whole bunch of the videos. How do I clear the rear sun roof drains? The fronts are clear, the rears I can’t see.

Pull the rear seat's side cushion.

For the rear ones, it's trickier. May try to remove the C-pillar trims but I would dread this because it can make these plastic rattle once placed back. Maybe one way is to push water backwards from the exit point - but will wet inside the car so go easily, can find it inside the trunk, undo the small rear side covers with knobs, the tubes run along the wheel arches

Hi again
Watched more of peppermints you tube videos.
spent a few hours today
Removing the front passenger side carpet and pulling up the one on the back.
Vacuumed up the water and put a fan blowing underneath it in the back.

Removed the plastic below the windshield and found the blower foam was non existent.
Installed new weather stripping there.
Hope I did it right:
Assuming that’s where the waters been coming from.
Tuesday’s the next day it rains.

Also,
Found that the rear speakers aren’t working.
So,
Guess I’m gonna need a new amplifier too.

Ordered the new drivers side seat motors from eBay. Should arrive soon.

Big issue is still that REM.
Don’t want to spend the big bucks at the dealer but concerned that the pet on eBay won’t work.
