'07 S60R CAN Communication Issues after Battery Disconnect

'07 S60R CAN Communication Issues after Battery Disconnect

I was doing some diagnostics on the SRS module and disconnected the battery before I messed with the SRS connector. I shorted the battery Pos cable to the Neg cable to discharge module capacitors. First time I've done this, but I've read here and elsewhere that it's advisable to protect modules - now I'm not so sure. After I was done and reconnected the battery (Pos 1st, Neg 2nd), the CEM is setting lost comm faults with the DDM and UEM (CEM-1A52 and CEM-1A5C). The driver door window controls are inop, but other doors work, overhead lights, sunroof, door locks, remote all inop. All fuses check ok.

I've tried disconnecting the battery, wait, reconnect in key position II, try remote fob, etc. as VIDA instructed, but the DDM and UEM don't want to come back on line. I always disconnected the Neg terminal first and reconnected last. I haven't tried shorting the battery cables together again, a bit afraid of that now. I've tried searching MVS and other forums for similar problems but didn't find much. Any advice out there? Thanks!

Ok, no responses yet..., I did find a recommendation to disconnect the battery cables from the battery and short them together for 10 minutes. Then ignition in PosII, connect Neg first, then Pos. I've always done Neg last, not sure why it would matter. I'll give it a try unless someone has a better idea.

Looks like official policy is 10 min disconnect, Position II, Positive 1st, then Negative - at least in the online owners manual.

I see some folks say 30 min, then short the cables for a bit, then Pos II, Pos, Neg.

There's other oddball reports of having to jump start after a new battery to get things going ( viewtopic.php?t=21466#p246486 ).

It is weird that the power windows are split (ie some work, some don't) - seems to rule out fuses or relays.

I tried shorting them for about an hour, reconnected in Pos II, Neg cable first, but it didn't appear to help. I haven't been back in with VIDA, but the interior lights and remote are still out.

Resolved - I always try to close out my help requests, even when it's a problem I caused. I looked at the wiring diagram and saw that all three no-comm modules (SRS, UEM and DDM) were on low speed CAN. So, I started troubleshooting the CAN circuit starting with the SRS connector that I had disassembled and aha - found that I didn't put it back together correctly. It wasn't a problem with the battery disconnect/connect procedure, but with the repair guy. What's best is that replacing the SRS module with another from XemodeX finally fixed my passenger airbag fault (OWS missing signal codes) that I've been trying to fix for 3 years!

Hello there. So I'm having a similar issue and was wondering if maybe you can help me? I have a 09 s80 and rhe car is telling me everything needs service. It thinks it's out of park so I cannot start it. The obd has power but no communication. This happend one day while working. I got into the car and battery was dead. Tried to jump and it tried if I remember correctly but maybe not I may of got into the car and was met with the dash telling me everything needed servicing. I tried to replace the CEM with no luck. Is there anyway you could send me the wire diagrams for anything to do with the cem and obd stuff?

Did you fully charge and load test the battery ?
Do a soft reboot ?
