03 S80 Using 03 XC70 Control Arm Parts

Post by MoVolvos »

After checking the various websites it looks like the 03 S80 T6 can use the same control arm from an 03 XC70. Any input on these parts and suggestions for ball joints would be great. Thanks.

- Great upgrade to the FWD 01+ Volvos
These should be the only bushings that can be purchased for the control arms on the P2 series Volvos. The other FWD version does not hold up well and is a much weaker design. If you want to upgrade your control arm bushings in the FWD vehicles, these are the ones to get! The only other option is Polyurethane bushings but they are $200 for a set of two rear vertical. As for the front horizontal bushings, consider using Powerflex instead of the stock bushing.

The so called 'Professional' parts are the worst quality out there, same as no name chinese brands.
The genuine bushing is top quality. I can tell I used one for XC90 on my 2003 S60, and Volvo lists it good for XC70 as well, not sure if P1 S80 is different or not. I actually have pressed in genuine bushings from Volvo on my 03 S60 and these are still good 1 year later. You will be surprised to get both for 1 side for under $50, it makes no sense to risk with aftermarket for this price, if you can press them in. Any rubber looks the same but the material has very very different strength from brand to brand.

From Georgeandkira's post it looks like they are using the ProSweden part from the picture of the box and it has been excellent so far?

I thought the 1st Gen S80 were P2's. My C30 is a P1?
-
I am thinking of replacing the rear LCA bushing with the heavy duty (thicker) XC70 bushing. They use the same front bushings according to the various websites including FCP so perhaps it's the same control arm?
.
Also, are there any aftermarket Ball Joints that are consider good? Thanks.
