Why Is my XC70 2002 (65k) feeling loose?

Dear all

I like my car (the more I see other brands I could access to, the more I like my Volvo) but I note that when driving her in a highway at 90M/h and braking the wheels feel like loose.....I mean; a sort of wobbling (nuts are tight, of course) or fast fibration feels from the wheels...could not tell if the four of them or just the front ones......Whant could it be?

Could be one of several things going on here.
My guess is that your ball joint(s) (one or more) have become loose. Check the wear on your tires. The ball joint is changed by replacing the control arm so have it checked out for play. Other possibilities include unbalanced tires or inner or outer tie rod ends. A good suspension shop (or tire shop) should be able to diagnose the issue for you before it gets worse and ends up costing you more money if you don't know how to do these things yourself.

Since the worst of the symptoms is when your braking, I would put to the top of the list of things to check, are brake discs. One of them has warped a little.

Sony is right...especially if this happens only during braking.
Could also be due to unbalanced tires or a brake caliper slightly sticking.

Ball joints (s)
Control arm bushing (s)
Inner or outer tie rods
Bent wheel (s)

Under braking, definitely warped front rotors if you feel a shake in the steering wheel when braking.
You have 60K miles, have you brought it in for the IMPORTANT 60K service?

Thanks a lot guys....I will start with the Volvo service of 60K right away...will expose them the problem....that I think is a disk too and will see how it works afterwards. Tires are OK so far (The Michelin set that I bought just 8K ago.... will balance them again. I guess there may be another reason.....and will take the chance to check those arms condition)...
Again, thanks a lot for the advise....I will go knowing possible causes and not blind folded to the Volvo dealer
