More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.

State growth rates for May 20, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Montana (0.389) with 478 cases, North Dakota (0.149) with 2095 cases, Minnesota (0.135) with 17,670 cases, Maine (0.134) with 1819 cases, and West Virginia (0.107) with 1567 cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. Montana, Hawaii, and West Virginia were over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). South Dakota, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and Georgia were over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight).

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0192 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.0184. This is not population or case number weighted.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Minnesota (0.133) with 21,315 cases, Vermont (0.095) with 962 cases, Alabama (0.085) with 14,986 cases, Louisiana (0.078) with 37,809 cases, and Tennessee (0.065) with 20,607 cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

Minnesota has been in top 5 for 41 of 47 days since April 9, 2020.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Guam (0.130) with 170 cases, Wisconsin (0.101) with 16,462 cases, Montana (0.095) with 481 cases, Oklahoma (0.093) with 6229 cases, and Minnesota (0.091) with 22,464 cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, and Montana were over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, US Military, and Navajo Nation were over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight). This column is an early warning of increasing cases beyond day to day noise. The last few days have shown more states over 1.5 and 2.0. I have excluded Federal Prisons because there was some adjustment in the data which made the growth rate unreasonable.
