Vibration Issue

Hello all. I own a 2015 Volvo V60 T5 Premier 2.5L turbo with AWD and around 53,000 miles. Lately, I've been having an issue where the car vibrates slightly at highway speeds. Over the last several months I have attempted various fixes including countless wheel balances, an alignment, new tires, new wheels (aftermarket and OEM), hub rings, but the issue still persists.

I thought it had something to do with how I was torquing the lugs (raised vs on the ground), but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Last week I installed an IPD wheel stud conversion kit to see if that would change anything, it did not.

One of my local Volvo mechanics basically blew me off saying it would be near impossible to diagnose such a problem. Please, if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. I love my wagon and would hate to have to get rid of it for such a strange issue.

Other than play in tie rod ends, ball joints, hub bearings, etc. - which I would assume you've already ruled out, torquing the lugs may sometimes be the culprit; VIDA calls for two-stage torquing in a star-pattern (1-3-5-2-4) first at 20 Nm then to final torque. I do the 20 Nm with the wheel still in the air, then lower it and torque to spec.

I may look like a dummy with a torque wrench but I don't have the 'feel' like other people do

Never had an issue though.

more details on the vibration. is it steady? what if you are coasting (no throttle) what if you gently touch the brakes does the vibration change? condition of the tires? rotate tires?

Steady at higher speeds (above 50 mph), no change when coasting & braking does not affect the vibration. Tires are brand new & have yet to be rotated.

when did the vibration start? sounds like tires. could be our of round. could be bent wheels. have the tire shop put on the balancer and watch as the wheel/tire assembly spins.

Saw a video somewhere of a newer Volvo with CV Joint Problem. Not a Volvo but there is a bad CV joint causing vibrations. Go to another mechanic who is willing to check it out. Near impossible means he lacks understanding and or experience.

usually CV joint vibrations are not constant. Changes with engine torque.

Sorry for the delay. I brought the Volvo to my local mechanic earlier this week and they spent a good portion of the day looking into all the potential drive train and suspension issues. They found absolutely nothing wrong with the car; everything was in perfect condition and tight. They suggested possibly doing a road force balance, but unless the tire shop I go to has malfunctioning machinery, I don't think this would change anything. I may try the Volvo specific lug torque technique later this weekend , but after that, I'm worried I may have to just live with it. Any more thoughts? Thanks in advance.
