Odometer fix nightmare

Post by pmpalma »

Gents,

Today, I've succesfully repaired the infamous odometer gear fix. Unfortunetly managed to screw up many things...

among burning close to all my lights :excl: I've also manage to brake my gas gauge.

All worked fine before the odometer thing, don't have a clue on why all my light burned nor why dis my gauge died.

Got all the lights, but can't seem to find a gauge, could someone please indicate where I could find one?

Thanks to all

Forgot to add... it's an 1995 850 Trubo with metric cluster.

Basically looking for a complete metric turbo cluster, but can't seem to locate any at the locals salvage yards (Montral, Canada.)

Thanks again

Intriguing... found a used cluster, swap it, change the light bulds :) still no working gas gauge!

Did the cluster check thinggy using socket A7, all works except the gas gauge, on both cluster!! I understand that maybe the one I baught from the salvage yard is defective, but what are the chances?

Is there a wire that power that gauge? Looking at my old board, seems ok, need to test resistance.

Just to be sure, when removing the cluster, I need to unplug the two top connectors, the boost gauge connector plus another electrical connector close to the edge at the middle right??

I'm lost :(

Could be your fuel level float in your gas tank.

Even if doing the cluster check shows that gas gauge is faulty??

But again, what are the chances that happening with two different clusters? My guess would be I most likelly yanked a wire that powers that gauge. But looking at all does wires... makes me wanna cry, hence if someone could point me out to the right wire bundle or connector :)
