Bidding was slower than expected and pricing seemed low, up until last 20 minutes or so, but that is par for the site. Sale exceeded my expectations, not that the car was unworthy just that past comps, only 2, were only bid/sold at 6250 and 6550, I figured that's where she would land when it ws all said and done. Ended up going to a Volvo dealer as a display for his showroom after a good fight to $8K. She will be at the palm springs volvo dealer in the near future if anyone wants to see her.

Congratulations! That it went to a dealer in Palm Springs is fitting. Palm Springs is a design-conscious/history-conscious city.

Very nice. I am glad this worked out so well for you.flyn-hawn wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 00:17 Bidding was slower than expected and pricing seemed low, up until last 20 minutes or so, but that is par for the site. I would be interested to hear from you how your experience with BAT and the sale procedure was. The site is very addicting and there are so many interesting cars on there, the kind you just don't see every day.
However, I have heard some negative feedback from people who feel that some of the cars are made nicer looking than what they really are by posting fancy photos.
Another person was disappointed by a deal falling through at the end because the buyer didn't pay.
Thanks, Dirk

Not on here much anymore so sorry for the delayed response! I have sold several cars on BaT with success, I have only had 2 sales come apart, one of them was finalized with the under bidder and the other one was relisted by BaT at no cost to me and sold for a little more than the original sale was for. I have only bought parts from the site, and with anything online it is pretty much on the buyer to do his due diligence. The audience has a great following with many knowledgeable people chiming in and a lot of idiots as well. If you want to sell be prepared going in that the car may get picked apart by people that will never bid and just want to get a high post count. Take your time before responding negatively as it will stay forever unless you edit it within minutes. I always ask for wire transfers and am in immediate contact with the buyer to set up a good rapport.

Late response, but still very valuable information. Thank you.
I came close to listing our 240 GL sedan on BAT last summer, but chickened out in the end. It sold locally for really good money, so it all worked out. But I do have 2 other cars that would be good candidates some day, so I am interested in other folks experiences.
One thing I am particularly curious about is the after sale stuff. You mentioned that you ask for wire transfers. I am assuming that you would release the car only when the money is in your bank account, is that correct? Is that the standard practice?
I am just now noticing that your car went to the Palm Springs Volvo Dealer. Too bad I didn't know, I was in Palm Springs last February for a wedding and should have taken a look. We enjoyed that trip very much, what a fascinating place.
