Volvo Findings! (What have you found on FB/Craiglist/Kijiii/other)?

Today an older gentleman called out to me as I street parked near across from my house. From his condo building they can see down into the driveway and he'd noticed all the work I put into my s70. He said he has an 05 Volvo wagon (so I'm assuming a 70) that he wants to get rid of for 'next to nothing'. I'm not in the market for another car, but he seemed pretty excited to run into me and who knows... Any tips for looking over a p2?

'05 is a good year for a V70, less worry about transmission issues and of course no ETM issues. Just check over the usual stuff, if it's a clean car and it runs well it could be a good flip at the very least.

Ah cool good to know, although I thought there was some Abscate golden rule that flipping an old Volvo almost never pays off lol.

Check if it is a V70 or XC70. Both are good vehicles, but depending on mileage the XC70 has higher running costs and depending on suspension it can be expensive if it has 4-C (adjustable) shocks. Button is at front of console on the bottom of the center dash.

In most cases, I agree with that, but sometimes if you can be into the car cheap enough, there is sometimes money to be made. Will it be enough to be worth your time? Depends how much you value your time.
I made close to $1k on my S70 when I sold it, and I paid $375. I replaced the engine (along with doing a refresh of the engine like an oil pan reseal, cam cover reseal, cams seals, timing belt, PCV, etc.), front suspension, and various other parts.

In your case, it could potentially make a nice car for your fiance!

I went looking at Hertz used cars for sale. I remembered I rented a Volvo from Hertz in Denver in about 2008. Here is only Volvo I found:

They want $37k on their "no haggle price"... I'd haggle. That feels like too much.

for a Chinese vehicle, yes too much. really imo Volvos 2009+ are included in that 'all good things come to an end' dome.

Yeah, can't say I'm a fan, either. I like the look of the S60/V60, but that's where it ends. The powertrain sucks, and I can't stand all of the technology in them.
