I washed my car today and gave it a good polish. See the results below :D

The clear coat is damaged on the hood. There's also a little rust spot. Anyone with a good tip/how-to to fix that? Or is it easier to find a used hood in the same color?

Nice ride man! Love those T5 wheels too.
Is that hitch model removable? If not maybe you can splash some paint on it, looks a bit crusty.

@Ocelot, you can do an okay-ish repair by doing the following, but depening on how much of the equipment you already have it may well be cheaper to find a replacement bonnet.

- Bilt Hamber Deox-Gel can be applied directly to the rust spot and it will remove the rust. If you can't get that, sand as much of the rust away as possible and apply a rust convertor. Be aware that the rust will likely extend further beneath the paint than is visible.
- Once the surface is rust-free, apply your primer and then basecoat. To make your life easier you can buy touchup kits that are a mix of clearocat and colour.
- Once dried, sand down the repair using 3000-5000 grit wet and dry paper to level it and blend the repair with the surrounding clear. You'll then need to compound (medium cut will do), and then polish it to finalise the blend.

By no means will this be perfect, but it will be fairly unnoticeable if you're socially distancing yourself..!

Wrapped up some work on my old '93 940 today. Got the AC working for the current owner as well as installed an Alpine head unit. The AC was a bit of a pain, since there were 3 separate issues going on. A cut wire on the low pressure switch, a bad solder joint in the MCC module, and low refrigerant. After fixing the first two, I was happy to see the compressor cycling.
Pro tip: test lights are your friend! I was seeing 10-13 volts on the compressor clutch wire with my multimeter, but nothing with the test light. This led me to disassemble the MCC module and reflow a couple solder joints. That solved the problem. I should have learned when diagnosing my 740 when I had it that the test light is more reliable for certain electronics.

EEeeks, a connection good enough for b+ but won’t pass current. Those are nasty to diagnose...well done!

You'll have to help me with this one. Hitch model? Removable? What exactly are you talking about? I'm curious to know! :)

Americans call a towbar a hitch (or perhaps more precisely they call the towbar neck a hitch). Towbars, as Im sure you already know, can either be fixed or detachable. If detachable it means you can just slide it out. In reality, all 'hitches' are detachable, you just need to unbolt them from the brace bar bolted onto the chassis... typically only two bolts.

Can anyone confirm if the term hitch is a throwback to wagon/horseback days in the WWW, or is my mind just being fanciful.

It’s an H6 for both the hard line and the mount.

You want a nice sharp bit, flood it with Pb blaster , get the hex bit engaged and then give it a couple of sharp raps with a hammer.

H6 is 6 mm six point hex bit
Picked up a set this morning at the local auto parts store. 7pc metric set for $20. The great thing about Texas is I rarely have to deal with rust. A little sprits of penetrant, a 5 second count and a 3/8 breaker bar broke those AC line bolts loose with no problem. Broke loose the 14mm mounting bolts as well. Maybe tomorrow I will actually get the compressor out.

Apparently it's a super common problem. I wouldn't be surprised if my '91 is giving an intermittent signal and that's why my AC only works when it wants to. Fortunately it's been good lately, but sometimes it takes a few minutes before the compressor actually kicks on. I'll pull that module out and reflow it when I replace my radio with a better one than my $15 Blaupunkt Amazon special.

The owner is very happy to have working AC!
