Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Zion, go to Lowe’s and replace the with hex head SS hardware. A coarse thread will work in plastic and won’t rust like the stock bolts

After years of rodents making a hotel out of the OEM front hood insulation on my 96 850T5, I found an all fiberglass hood mat replacement. It's almost the same thickness as the original. I just put the old one over as a template and now the rodents can't stand the fiberglass!! I got it at Detroit Muscle Technologies.

Awhile ago I wrote down the mileage on my S70 when I checked the oil level and filled it up to max. Yesterday, it was just above the MIN level on the dipstick and I found out the engine uses 1 liter (I think 1 qt is 0.95 liters) of oil every 10.000 kilometers (somewhere around 6200 miles). What do you guys think about that? I think it's pretty neat for an engine with almost 350.000 kilometers (209.000 miles) on it

Does anyone know what the residual capacity for coolant is on the P80 turbo engines? The total capacity is listed as 7 liters. I want to switch coolant types and I'm planning to do a system drain and fill with distilled water. Would the remaining water affect the the new 50/50 mix?

Today, I installed a new ignition switch. The original one would relectantly allow me to turn the key to OFF and remove it after a couple minutes of wiggling the key and hopefully hearing that click. I ordered one from a seller on Ebay for way $100 less than online parts stores are charging. I was having a problem with the new switch. I would plug it in and it wouldn't allow the key to go all the way in. I had watched a YouTube video on how to install it. He mentioned nothing about re-programming it or needing a scan tool.
After some investigating, I realized the new switch was in the ON position. I unscrewed the back cover and turned the switch to OFF and Voila' ! The key would go in the switch.
After buttoning up the dashboard, I went to read the odometer and realized the display wasn't lit. I turned the key to ON and none of the warning lights and chime came on. My only guess was to check for a blown fuse under the hood. The were was a fuse for the ignition switch and pulled it out. When I put it back in, I heard the steering wheel lock solenoid and turned the key ON and everything was working again.

Don't know the exact capacity off the top of my head, but if you're flushing with water, a little residual water will be fine. I prefer to use a little bit more water than coolant since it's better at dissipating heat. Not too much though.ZionXIX wrote: ↑04 Aug 2020, 15:01 Does anyone know what the residual capacity for coolant is on the P80 turbo engines? The total capacity is listed as 7 liters. If you flushed it with water the residual capacity does not matter. You add 3.5L of undulated antifreeze them top off with distilled water get 50/50. †ZionXIX wrote: ↑04 Aug 2020, 15:01 Does anyone know what the residual capacity for coolant is on the P80 turbo engines? † Not to distilled drinking water. Pure water is tasteless. They add minerials back in to give drinking water flavor.
My biggest concern is: if you used tap water to flush the coolant system. Tap water can contain Minerials that can leach out and coat the walls of the coolant system. Lowering the coolant system thermal conductivity. Hindering the coolant system's ability to transfer heat.
