2001 V70 Oil Change

Post by anladoc »

I'd like to be sure I'm getting full synthetic at oil change intervals, so I've been reading instructions on MVS and it all seems straighforward. The parts are a bit of a departure from what I'm used to (Toyota), but they can all be had for about the same cost.

There is no mention of the removal of undercarriage plating/covers, so I'm wondering:

1. Are the oil pan and filter located under a cover, and if so

2. How difficult is it to remove it?

Also, would you advise against/for a pre-oil change additive like Gunk engine cleaner to help get rid of sludge?

Thanks.

Some come with the under-cover, some don't. If yours does, it's easy to remove. Just find the 6 or so bolts and undo them and yours will come off. The rest is the same as the instructions given.

The under carraige protector is easy to unbolt. I think it is a 12mm head on the bolts. It will drop right to the ground. Once it is off ,you will see the oil filter on the passenger side of the vehicle. You need a special size oil filter removal tool. If you have the right size oil filter tool,it is quite easy to get at and take off.
