Volvo remade the 850 Sport Wagon!

Post by June »

The new V90 is wonderful but definitely not sporty like the 850 wagon was. I have had a new V60 for a couple of days now as a Service loaner and it really reminds me of my 98 V70. Only a bit smaller, but handles and drives way better! I love the front end! It's made in Sweden too! Check the vin# starts YV so Swedish built. Not expensive either... June

YV is the World Manufacturer Identifier for Volvo.
  • YV1 = Volvo car.
    YV2 = Volvo truck.
    YV3 = Volvo bus.
    YV4 = Volvo multipurpose vehicle.
That V60 was assembled in Ghent Belgium
Position 11 is the plant. 2 = Ghent Belgium Plant.

The four Sweden plants are
0 = Kalmar Plant.
1 = Torslanda Plant.
A = Uddevalla Plant, TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing).
J = Uddevalla Plant, VCU 38 (Volvo Cars/ Pininfarina Sverige AB).

This is an example of plant A's work.

Well obviously not all Volvo plants got the memo! My 98 V70 was built in the Belgian plant as I recall...

Position one is where the Volvo partner group is based not necessary where the car is built.

The V60 was built by Volvo Car Corp (Sweden based ) in Belgium.

Paper companies for tax and legal reasons.

I can smell the new car smell through my screen. I'm not just saying that. The actual smell was created by my brain when I looked at these interior shots.

Anyway, that particular sample looks great. The interior is stunning.

I'm happy Volvo finally got on board with the dark dash pad material. The light interiors of P80 and P2 cars (maybe others) included the dash top. In bright states like Colorado it's a terrible idea. On sunny days it was like projecting a bright image (of the dash top) onto the inside of your windshield.

^ Part of the reason I always preferred my 850's Graphite interior.

Matt, no joke this car really reminds me of the
P80 V70 only improved in almost every way! No wagon has improved on the P80 V70 taillight in it's beautiful design! It is considerably more nimble in the handling department! The T6 AWD would be the V70 Cross country with more horses under the hood. I love the look of the front end on that V60! June

I live at Jacksonville Beach. If you see a white streak fly by than that's my S80 T6! love Row's IGA at Beach and Southside. Jacksonville is serious Volvo territory! Here at Jacksonville Beach area Ponte Vedra I see tons of fellow Volvoers. I will keep my eyes out for your Yellow 850. Is it T5R yellow? June

In the sunny South, a dark dash and side panels will really heat the interior. I vote for glare without the heat.
