I found a hole in the weld on my backbox. Sadly not repairable as the metal around it is iffy at best. That will fail the MOT, so I've been hunting for a replacement. 850 ones are very hard to find, but I've found one from a C70. Does anyone know if the C70 section fits the 850? Better still, is there a difference in exhaust diameter between 2.0Ts and the 2.3T5s?

Are you allowed to use patches to fix a silencer hole, Cookeh?

We can patch them, yes. Not sure its much of an easy patch. It's on the weld itself, on the topside of the exhaust, and most of the weld bead is badly deteriorated. Finding good metal may be interesting.

Drove 130 miles today and the first time since I swapped my fuel tank pressure sensor with a junkyard unit. My p0452 has not returned, but jury is still out as my ETS was lit the whole way. Still have p1041 to deal with.

Swapped my key ring antenna with a junkyard unit as I had a p1081. It did not solve my weird crank-no-start-remove-key-replace-then-crank-and-start issue. Maybe my junkyard started is bad? Maybe fuel pump, or fuel pressure regulator? Not sure about anything with this car anymore.

Swapped my (super cracked and compressed) gas cap gasket with one off a $7 cap from O'Riley's per a post I saw here on MVS.

Strictly an immob issue.

Assuming inspection is not looming.....

Disconnect battery for 30 minutes, reconnect , then try starting. Does it start normally?

Disconnected negative, then positive, and left disconnected for a couple hours. Came back and hooked it back together in reverse. Still the same problem though. When I get home I'll break out the electrical connector cleaner and give it another spray to be sure.

I got run off the road at 75mph by a Q3 driver who thinks the use of mirrors is optional. In trying to avoid a collision (I was level with their drivers door), I drifted too far to the right and clipped the kerb (curb) of the central reservation (median). Blew one tyre outright, ripped a 7cm chunk from the sidewall of the other.

Amazingly, the wheel that blew out has not been bent and I have no damage to the track rod end. Even more amazingly, the Q3 driver had absolutely no idea of the incident occuring. Another Useless Driver Inside, indeed.

I have a few new rattles now, presumed to be caused by one or more dash mount and definitely a shot strut top mount. Of more concern, I have a rhythmic 'chirping' noise from one of the wheels. The frequency changes with speed, though is inaudible below 25mph. Ideas as to what this could be?

I'd expect a bearing to be more of a groan and lower in pitch. I also don't seem to have anything fouling the wheel or brake discs.
