Sunroof down

Post by Mr. Detail »

Just wondered what might be the cause of my sunroof no longer functioning other than the plastic strips that suddenly came down one day while driving. Some sort of protective strips I think.
I checked the fuse and it is fine. When I depress the power switch in any direction, there is no movement.

My key fob has not worked ever since I bought the car. I just use a key to gain access to the car.
Also my alarm system does not work. Flasher goes off at times when I unlock a door from the passenger side after the car is locked with the key.

Its a common problem we all experience, battery in the fender mounted alarm module leaks on the control board and takes it out, then sunroof goes out because they share a circuit. New module is $250 or junkyard a used one.
I believe you can unplug the alarm module, remove fender inner liner for access, that should preserve the sunroof action.

jonesg, " I believe you can unplug the alarm module, remove fender inner liner for access, that should preserve the sunroof action."
So are you saying here that if I unplug the alarm module altogether, the sunroof might work again?
Which fender side are we talking about? Driver or passenger side?

Thanks much!

passenger fender, I recall if unplugged the sunroof should work, you'll get some error mssg about alarm signal or something but the roof should function. I replaced my module with a junkyard part and that was bad too, installed new nicad battery and it still didn't work, so I just snipped the wire. Fixed.
I can fix anything.
