Hi here! SoI have been have trouble with my 2007 xc70 recently, it does have 316k mile(yes I know, thats ALOT) but until recently it has been well maintained and driving fine. So the fist thing that showed up was ABS light and msg "abs service required and brake service required, then it started not responding to pedal for about 3 seconds after starting and not shifting up unless I did the "manual" shift and the speedometer would only go to about 20 (while going 50 or 60) then after a few min the speedometer would jump up to speed and automatic shifting would resume, a few weeks after that it started idle really rough jerking and shaking at a stop or if I wasn't accelerating or decelrating. These are the codes I got
P0016: Crankshaft position- Camshaft position correlation bank 1 sensor A- confirmed
P0300: multiple misfire detected-pending
P0301: cylinder 1 misfire detected-pending
Each cylinder misfiring, this is new after i checked a couple of the plugs, none appeard fouled, yesterday and cleaned MAF sensor (finding this out right now great!)
121b- MAF sensor
670c- camshaft positon, inlet
And code 3110-3150
I literally just checked as I am typing ill try clearing again. I'm happy to have habe found this site! I was planning on cleaning throttle body next and searched read through some other posts.Anyway I was really hoping for any queations, advice, thoughts ect, they would be greatly appreciated!
2007 XC 70 jerking idle and stop wont shift automatically after start for a few min

I would focus on your P0016 and 670C codes. Start by looking at the sensor(s) and the wire harness for breaks. Clean any contacts you can get to including disconnecting the harness.
Pull your timing belt inspection cover and look at the timing belt. When was it last serviced? Do you have the ability and tools to turn the engine by hand to see if the marks are lining up. There is plenty of info on the site on what is required.
What is the condition of the oil?
You can punch in "Volvo Codes [insert yours]" on the internet and it will tell you what may be wrong and where to look. Once you get the sensor names that are suspect punch in "Volvo sensor {insert yours]" and you can figure out where to look.
With those miles it can be a few items or just one.
Clear codes each time you knock off a suspect. If you have a specific question ask and you will get responses.
What happened to the ABS light message? Did it resolve on its own?
Report back.

Hey thanks for the response, I'll check the sensors today and the timing belt, oil was changed recently, the ABS is still on and has neen the longest. What about the MAF sensor and throttle body? The jerking is what is really worrying me. Thanks!

Own this car from new? If not, when did you get it. What does, "until recently it has been well maintained", mean? Are there gaps in your knowledge of the car's history. Could someone have installed "super duper -incorrect- spark plugs" in it either before your ownership or by a sincere helper or even yourself? At 319K pull all the plugs and do a compression test.
An assessment of your car's overall state of maintenance and repair would help make things clearer faster. Are the vacuum hoses crack free? Transmission fluid clean?
When was the last time the timing belt was changed and by whom? When it's running can you take a vacuum reading?
As Super Herman says, inspect both CKS and CMS wiring. I don't know how to inspect their respective signals. I do know CKS fail. It effects the engine for real.
I've seen videos regarding reading the MAF sensor....don't know the details. If yours is dead they say a junkyard Volvo replacement is better than a cheap new replacement.
By turning the timing belt and determining "it was visibly off", are you referring to the timing marks not being aligned? 670c is an "out of time" condition. Fix that and other codes may vanish.
Just for grins swap coils #1 and #5 and see if any P0301 codes disappear and codes P0305 replace them.
The code array you have is varied. I've read where the ABS controller can foul communications and more due to bad solder joints but that was mostly on earlier year vehicles than yours.
Also, did your reading regarding 'adjusting the timing belt' focus on the adjustable idler pulley? This'd include mention of a 6mm allen wrench and the ambient temperature. Has your current tensioner loosened?

I've been a lurker for years,, but first time posting. Over the last two weeks, I've had many of the same codes on my 2006 XC90 2.5T and nearly identical symptoms, minus the misfire codes, but plus additional codes (ECM941D-accelerator pedal position sensor digital signal too low, ECM970B - accelerator pedal position sensor digital signal missing, ECM431B - leak diagnostic unit, preheating signal missing, ECM432B - leak diagnostic unit, valve signal missing, ECM433B - leak diagnostic unit, pump signal missing, ECM900B - Brake pedal sensor signal missing ).
These codes and the rough idle, extremely low power, poor performance occurred after extensive maintenance and repairs. Here's what I have resolved so far, perhaps it will help you:
Accelerator pedal position sensor - solved after discovering and replacing blown fuse (wish that was the 1st thing I checked)
Cleaned Mass Airflow Sensor, code resolved but came back so replaced Mass Airflow Sensor (resolved)
At this point, driving was slightly improved but still very poor, and still had to manual shift to get past 20mph.
Since I had just replaced timing belt, tensioner, all seals, and vvt hub this was most likely cause of driveability issues. Checked marks three times and appeared perfect. Replaced belt 2nd time with Genuine Volvo belt and INA tensioner, used the cam rear locking tool this time to ensure correct marks. Still had same driveability issues and slightly different but related codes.
Turns out timing with marks were spot on, but needed to fine tune timing. Once this was done, codes for 670D and P0016 resolved and drives better than ever. I was shocked that a tiny, tiny adjustment resolved the codes and the driveability issues.
Still working on the brake codes and the leak detection pump. Stumped by both. The brake codes came on after timing belt work completed the 1st time, but not noticing any brake issues. Both the 'ABS' and 'BRAKE' light are on, and I have the warning that says "Brake Failure stop vehicle now", but at the time that came on I was sitting in driveway with key in position 2, but engine not running. And, brakes seem fine. I recently replaced the left hand turn signal and there seem to be some issues - turn signal works fine, but nt able to read in dash messages or use cruise control. I have another code related to "cruise control signal on too long" - could this be related to the brake codes? Any suggestions?
Leak Detection Pump - replaced my working pump with working pump from junkyard to see if codes resolved. They did not. Just starting to work these codes. Any suggestions on approach to solve would be greatly appreciated.

Great suggestion. I will check sensor and wiring today and run ohm test. I will report back results. Thank you very much. Susan
