Thinking about getting rid of my ‘12 Genesis and turning my ‘98 V70 into my daily driver. Will need to make the a/c on my V70 operational to do this.
Suspect it needs an evaporator. IPD shows two on their site. One is Volvo genuine parts for over $400 the other aftermarket for $100-$150.
Thoughts on the genuine Volvo vs. after market please?
Appreciate your input.

Nissens or Behr are excellent replacements. I’m going on 7 years with my Nissens replacement now
There is a good price inthe Nissens compressor right now, $235 with no core from FCP

Agreed with previous replies. Not really a job you want to do again by getting the cheapest part you can find.
I'm at 20 years on my original. *nervous*

I did have an issue with a Nissens evaporator on an 850. The flange at the bulkhead on the pipes were slightly too large preventing the snap ring being able to get over them to lock them in. A little careful filing (after 5 hours of swearing) and it then snapped in perfectly. Ran great after that though.
One heads up is sometimes the lock springs rust in place. Maybe worth spraying a day before tackling with penetrating oil to help then release.
Good luck!
Neil.

Another tip. If you know you are replacing the evap just cut the evap off as close to the firewall as you can with a Dremel, in 7 seconds

Also cut two small passage ways in the bottom of the new foam so the water can hopefully make it to the drain instead of pooling on one side of the evap.
