Total Quartz synthetic oil

Post by mr_chase »

Has anyone heard of, or has used Total Quartz synthetic oil? It's a European oil, designed for European cars. An independent Volvo master tech recommended trying it for my next oil change ('98 V70R). I currently run Royal Purple with excellent results, however I was considering using Mobil 1, as many forum members run it and vouch for it.

Mr. Chase the oil seems as if it was developed for diesels. They require a lower ash content overall, and since one in every two new cars sold in Europe is diesel, they are catering to that market that has yet another generation of diesel engine requiring lower sulphur content in the fuel. Low ash content won't hurt your car but check that its other characteristics match the Volvo APIs. Total itself is a very good company.
