Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
I have personally never seen one that looks good or fits properly. My suggestion, if you already have cracks and damage, would be to remove the dash pad. Then repair the cracks or damage with some filler, before flocking it. Flock (i) looks cool, (ii) isn't as good an insulator as plastic or vinyl so is less likely to re-crack, (iii) eliminates glare and reflections of your dash in your windscreen - great for improved observations. This can be done in a few hours for around $40.
If you're trying to precent cracks, may I suggest frequent application of UV-resistant plastic and vinyl treatments - like Aerospace 303, for example.
One of the first things I bought. I think it was a Dash Mat - not sure, but I have had one in my Cherokee for 24 years with no problems. So I get the best one I can for the Volvo and it was terrible. Nothing wrong with the mat; great quality, but the reflection on the inside of the windshield was like looking through a screen door. I called them and they said that the darker the color ( mine is gray ) the less reflection. They offered to exchange it but I like the way the dash looks too much anyway so..
It's on my shelf.
