2016 XC60 (crash mode?) issue

Post by Rehin »

Hello, everybody! I have an issue and was hoping someone experienced something similar and can share the wisdom.
The car: 2016 XC60, AWD 2.5 117k miles.
The issue: the battery went dead and after a jumping attempt the "crash mode" message appeared on the dashboard. The car was sitting in the garage and did not get into any accidents. All fuses are good. I've replaced the battery with a new one - it would not start, but the message was gone. When pressing the start button the lights come on, but the car does not start. If the push button is kept pressed the message "starting in progress" appears, but nothing happens. If it's pressed in for an few minutes, the message "push button malfunction, service required" appears. I've replaced key fob battery, push button (new from the dealer) - nothing. There were a lot of codes, and I got all of them cleared, except for B10A200 in the beginning. This code required to get into SRS module and deactivate the crash mode event that was sitting there. After that it was gone. All the codes were cleared with Autel computer. Still no luck.
The odd: (I was hoping I could get pics attached but have not figured out how)
in transmission module "Start lock request status" shows "Start disapproved"
"Start switch 1" shows "Deactivated"
"Key in switch" shows "Key not inserted"
"Key in ignition" shows "Not activated"
Sorry for the lengthy description...
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you for taking time to read through this!

You need an SRS module. I know of no way to clear that. The people at XEMODEX may have a way now. From experience with years 8 or so years back, this means the internal memory that has some portion that is non-erasable has reached its storage limit. I would usually say it means there was a prior airbag or seatbelt deploying collision bu the fact it occurred when jump starting means all bets are off.

Jimmy57, thank you for your advice! Do you think I need a new/used one, or I should attempt to reset it first? I'm not sure if online VIDA will allow me to do that, or VDASH. I also saw some posts on eBay for mail in service, when you send it, they reset and send back. Any experience with any of those venues for dealing with SRS modules?
