Fuel pump

D5 engine won’t start.
I can hear the fuel pump noise for 15 secs on turn of ignition. Cranks fine.
I have taken plug from bottom of fuel filter and had a trickle of fuel but should the pump Not push a Stream of fuel out here when it is whirring. Can the pump be making a noise but not pumping.
Fuel gauge shows plenty.

Can you test the pressure at the injectior rail? Yr and engine?

We don’t get the diesels over here in the States so your country men will have to help you on this one.
