V60 vs V70

Post by IslandV70 »

I now have a 2016 V60 along with out 2005 V70. It is an interesting contrast.
On the plus side the V60 has more computers, radars, sonars, cameras and so on than NSA and NASA combined. The radar cruise control is amazing :D
Having around 70 extra horsepower doesn't hurt either, the car is way faster than the V70.
On the minus side the V60 has a higher belt line and the roof slopes down, so the visibility is not as good as the V70. The blind spot warning system and parking camera/sensors are appreciated for sure! Overall the V70 is a bigger car that can hold more. I guess Volvo doesn't see a need for anything between the 60 and 90, but I would have bought a new-ish V70 if they existed.
One other thing - The V60 warranty is extend to 2025. I think the V60 is not going to be an easy do-in-driveway repair car like the V70 is.

How many miles were on the V60 when you got it? They're all turbocharged, no?

Is the extended warranty on the V60 via an aftermarket warranty company or through Volvo? Is it bumper-to-bumper?

Is your V70 turbocharged?

Good luck with both vehicles.

In between there would be the XC60, which is a small SUV. You also have now XC40. Good idea about extended warranty especially since it's a new model. As for the driving assist sensors, man I want to see the insurance repairs for a damaged front or rear bumpers on these modern cars. Radar in front, radar in the rear bumper, parking sensors all around perfectly exposed to the slightest bump. Not to mention the trend is now to make 'artistic' bumper covers with fancy grids and lights, no longer have the role of protecting the car from damage. Basically bumper covers these days have become a 'must' insure item. Just for fun, try see how much is a blind spot radar sensor (two inside the rear bumper), just be seated while reading. https://www.aaa.com/autorepair/articles ... pair-costs

The V70 is not a turbo, the V60 is. It has about 34K on it and I got the CPO warranty extended out 5 more years with unlimited mileage.

Both are auto. There are no manual V60s I have ever seen.

I didn't know they hung in that long. None showed up for sale anywhere near that new and 2010 is the newest V70 for sale in the entire USA right now. XC70s are around to 2016 but I was not doing XC.

I believe the following is accurate.
The "P3" (2008 and on) 70 series cars were all called XC-70. Even the non-turbo ones were called XC-70.
I believe 2012 was the last year for non-turbo XC-70's.
If anyone can confirm or refute this, please do so.

HARSH REALITY: The non-turbo XC-70s are as scarce as hen's teeth. People love 'em and keep 'em.

SMALL WISH (with snide remark built in): I'd love to find a non-turbo for sale without the stupid, motorized, dashboard key fob pocket.
I heard Volvo removed that worthless feature due to failures.
