2.5T AWD - got a bearing sound/ whining noise underneath

Hello

My car is a S60 2.5T AWD my 2003 and I got a bearing sound/ whining noise from under the car.
Read that the angle gear could be the source or a support bearing.

To isolate the source during acceleration I put just a little bit of break pressure on just enough to get the break lights to turn on.
Immediately the sound disappears. From my understanding the AWD disengages when the break is pressed.

I don't have any time to look in to this until the weekend so I pulled the fuse to the Haldex unit and the sound is gone.
What is the most possible source of this bearing sound. Support bearing to the cardan shaft?

I'd say its the Haldex.
I pulled my haldex fuse 3 yrs ago, whine is gone.

The propshaft turns all the time with the transmission through the bevel gear. If the whining sound is coming from the front around the floor area it is likely the collar sleeve spinning on the bevel gear input shaft. Pulling the haldex fuse in the back may stop the whining if the splines are just starting to go. When the rear Haldex demands torque through the propshaft for instance in a low traction situation, torque will be transmitted through the propshaft and the Haldex the turn the rear differential.
The U-joint or support bearing will be fine, it turns all the time as mentioned earlier. If the noise goes away when you have the Haldex fuse pulled, and this is counterintuitive, its likely the Bevel gear and not the Haldex unit.
Its about an hour and a half job to remove the BG and check the collar sleeve and input shaft splines, this will be where the problem most likely lies.

I think it's a little bit more then 1.5h with my skills

Do I need to remove the angle gear from the car to inspect ?
The car has 18500km (115 000 miles)

So if I'm lucky its just the collar sleeve.

Will read upp on you guide.

I would have to hear the noise you are talking about to be a little more sure about the diagnosis. Any chance you could record it on a short drive and upload the clip?
You will need to remove the angle gear to inspect it, and there won't be any getting lucky with just a collar sleeve, that sleeve tends to wear out in unison with the BG input shaft sleeve. If its making the noise that you describe, I'd be about 99% sure on my diagnosis. You're likely going to need a new or good used Bevel Gear and a New Collar Sleeve, or you could go with the welded setup as described in my post that I PM'ed you.

Hey guys, look at the pics in this thread. I put in a new collar, said a prayer and have yet to hear back from it. I did not think it would last and figured on doing the weld fix. My wife has put a lot of miles on it since and reports no issues. Apparently there was enough left of the splines on the shaft for a new collar not to strip. She does drive it easy...

Jacked up the car and did the inspection.

1. Tried my best to feel any play in the propulsion shaft, but found none.
2. Rotated the right front wheel and tried to hold the propulsion shaft, every thing felt solid

3. Rotated the front wheel faster, resulted in the sound in the clip. Doesn't sound that great?
4. Listened for sounds from the angle gear in front to back of the Haldex and the sound comes front the angle gear

Almost sounds like there is no oil in the gear, there was oil on the outside from leakage

Removed the fill plug and put a stick down the fill hole to check if there was oil in it.
It has the right amount of oil and the oil is not black its actually pretty clear and good looking
