Worth saving a '97 Volvo 850?

Have a 1 owner 97 850 5 speed silver wagon with 150,000 KM, cloth seats and sunroof (I believe its the base model). Car has virtually no rust (has been rustproofed) and the interior is mint (OEM summer floor mats were never used as only the OEM winter mats were used all year round ). The car is plated but have not driven it over a year as the last time I started it, the power steering and radiator fluid leaked/gushed.

I need to get rid of it but would hate to see it go to the crusher and would rather give t to Volvo enthusiast who can fix it or use it for parts. Is it worth trying to find such a person or should I just let it go since its the base model that needs a lot of mechanical work?

If those are really the only issues then not the end of the world. Used parts might be the way forward affordably. I like the base models as there is less to go wrong. I repaired a 97 850 SE base and it ended up in California with my brother and niece as her first car. 3+ years later they still have it.

We drove it from Calgary to Santa Rosa in 3 days including a 1100km in one day.

If you just want to get rid of it as is, it is probably a $3-500 car to a mechanic or someone who wants cheap transport.

Thanks for the reply. Will post it for sale locally and if does not sell by the time the snow hits, ill send it to the crusher.

We have someone who needs an engine in northern VT - Ill put you in touch. No idea how we can get across border but it an idea.

By rail or boat is likely the only easily achievable way at the moment.

Considering the engine would be safely protected by the Volvo body, this should work fine.

I don't have money to just buy it. If none else wants it, and you are thinking of crushing it, would you be willing to donate? I'm located in Antlers, Oklahoma, United States.
