V40 1,9D '99 Gearbox failure

Hi all,

I seem to have a total gearbox failure

Does anyone now the model designation of my gearbox? Renault or Volvo? I'm searching for a used one....

Yours being a diesel, I wouldn't know. These were not imported to the U.S. I figure you're in Britain or one of the European countries, or maybe even Canada? billofdurham is from an area that has diesels so he might be able to help. This is the only info I can find that may tell which gearbox it is:

A 'Phase 1' car gear lever has the reverse position to the left, engaged by lifting the collar and moving the lever forwards - Renault gearbox.

A 'Phase 2' car gear lever has the reverse position to the right and moving lever backwards - Volvo gearbox.

Thanks guys, this confirms what I have read on another forum. Now I just have to find out which Renault models that have the same gearbox. The early models of Laguna is one I think.
