Engine skipping in 2001 T5

I have had my V70 T5 manual trans for about a week and noticed for the 1st time today that the engine cuts out at about 5500 rpm. It feels almost like a rev limiter kicking in. It has about 20k on the plugs and runs great in all other respects. Any suggestions? Also, at what rpm should the rev limiter kick in?

Yep, sounds like the rev. limiter. If you don't want this, you'll need to have a ECU upgrade. IPD is a good source.

I have not upgraded anything on my car, '01 v70-T5M and mine isn't rev-limited until roughly 6200rpm.

The only time I noticed the rev limiter cut out at 5500 was @ 130mph...

Is yours cutting out in all gears at 5500? Or is it because of high speed? I understand a new chip will limit your top speed to ~155mph.

I do not, however, have any ideas what would cause the early cut out if it's not because of speed so I won't even speculate.

You are correct....speed limiting is set as well. Some ECU upgrades get rid of all limits. Of course there's a limit as to how fast you will actually be able to go in any car unless you're gunning it going down a mountain or something.
