Most US drivers in the UK are terrified at how close the cars are. In the UK you are expected to keep your car within 6 inches of it’s prescribed place , whereas I think it’s about 6 meters in the US ( fun uNits play 😀)

I still haven’t mastered exactly the etiquette of merging into a motorway with two lanes as they come in and drop. In traffic I get honked at and people yell “Yank Wanker” so I know there is something wrong with them

We rarely get two lane merges without a control to alternator lanes but the two lane drop seems common in the Midlands and Nottingham where I drive in the non-Covid era

Not a volvo thing but i had to drive to the office in the Volvo so i hope it counts.

After an incident with a laptop and the corner of a stone tile, i had a very nerve wracking few hours of working with vice grips and small hammers.

Did the patient recover from the accident and cosmetic surgery?

The computer survived with only a small scratch where the aluminium bent. I was really lucky that all the boards are mounted to the top plate and not the bottom plate, and that the usb that was bent did not have a socket around it. Otherwise the I/O board would likely have been toast.

I had written exams in that room earlier in the week and i left it upside down as a fun joke for some of the virtual proctoring.

Jokes aside, that cranberry flavour is way too good!

Remember how we were talking about E30s a few days ago? This one followed me home today...
IMG_7459.jpg
Been sitting a year, and apparently it runs. The starter didn't want to work for us after we tried for a little bit to get it going, but the seller claimed it was running yesterday. Not a problem... I can get it running easily. Set me back $1,200, but I think it was worth it for a clean, 99% rust free E30. Plus it's manual, and the only two things I really wanted were 2 door and manual transmission. It's an '84 with the M10 1.8l 4 cylinder.
Got the Mountaineer stuck once, fortunately we were able to push it out. Unfortunately we made a HUGE mess of the E30 when my dad had to floor it just to keep the truck moving through the mud with the car on the dolly. I'm just happy it made it onto the street, I was really worried it would get stuck and we'd be screwed. All terrain tires are on the list now... and maybe a refreshed front driveshaft, considering it's operating as RWD right now due to a toasted CV joint on the old driveshaft.

That’s an early one, ‘84. Looks really straight. Is it Delphin grey, or more of a blue-grey? Has the is / es trunk lip.

When I first saw the ad, I thought it looked like delphin grey. It’s actually Baltic blue.

It is really clean and straight though. Nothing more than a VERY small amount of rust on the rockers. From the limited amount I was able to see underneath, it looks really clean and free of rust. Gotta get a better look over the car tomorrow once it’s light. Then I can clean all the mud off!

Needs Euro bumpers, stat. Forgot the US had those daft eleventy million foot long rubber bumpers; pedestrian safety, or something wasn't it?

Rust free is very impressive though, finding such a good condition shell is rare.
