Starter wiring

Post by Volvoblackdog »

Anyone have a diagram of where the starter wiring and where it connects to the engine or intake on a 2001 s40? My Haynes manual shows nothing. I recently R&R the engine and I'm replacing all the components. Pictures were taken but I lost my phone that they were on. Thanks.

No diagram, but I'll try to get a photo under the hood of my '01 tomorrow if that will help.
It sounds like you're interested in the area under the smaller plastic cover, right?

Probably not really what you're looking for, but maybe it'll be of some help...
Obviously I can't get to the starter without removing the intake manifold.
If you need more detail, just ask.

Thanks I got it figured out. Now I have another issue. Maybe you can help as well. Looks like you have a turbo model like mine. There is a large air hose going to the intake manifold that makes a 180Degree turn but just below that is a less than 1" diameter outlet that goes to a hose I think and runs down to another nipple that bypasses the air intake and goes directly to the intake manifold. I cant find anything on this on line or in my Haynes manual as well. could you be so kind as to take a shot of this as well? thanks so much

I think you're referring to the hose for the Idle Air Control valve.
But I'm not sure where you need the photo. Does this help?

Ya, that's great thank you so much. You have been a great help. Just about complete with my engine install and should fire it up soon. BTW. Since I have you maybe you could help me with another thing. Just put the fresh air hose in and there is another breather hose coming from the top and I have no Idea where is connects. Thanks

Hmm. The top of what? Sounds like you're talking about the air box.
Glad to help, but I'll look tomorrow since it's already dark here and we have New Year's plans.
Stay tuned...

That's a tough one to see when it's all together...
