I think you can still get Red Velvet Oreos.
My dad did road construction some of the time. He would leave for Oklahoma with a silver Dodge Coronet, come back with a red one.

I had to do some web searching to find Oklahoma food specialties. Some are: fried okra, chicken fried steak, pork BBQ, fried pies, and black eyed peas. Seems like fried anything is a favorite. Translations available on request.

The official state meal of Oklahoma consists of fried okra, cornbread, barbecue pork, squash, biscuits, sausage and gravy, grits, corn, strawberries (state fruit), chicken fried steak, pecan pie, and black-eyed peas.

Oklahoma got the grits and cornbread from the native American population.

Missouri official "food: Ice cream cone. Sometime I agree with Arkansas, we need to solve the Missouri problem by fencing in Missouri. They are a little too odd to be running loose. :wink:

My wife and I just made a pecan pie. We used her families old recipe from the Karo syrup jar. Last year we had a oven mishap and it got over cooked. No problems this year.

What are your holiday meal food favorites? Ours is pecan pie, fresh baked dinner rolls, and green beans. Not fancy but good.

For the New Years here in the southwest, Tamales are a tradition. Also anything spicy after New Years Eve :)
