I also greased the mount so moisture won't get stuck in it. Took her out on some rather snowy roads this evening, not much slipping. Several cars were learning to drive in snow, via the ditch.

Just to be clear: Snow tires are for people that need to drive on uncleared roads.
Snow tires are for driving in snow not when it snows.

Right, I've read this before. Fortunately around here I have no need for snow tires so I've never driven on them.

I'm eyeing up adding poly inserts into my subframe bushings, so I'm wondering if there are any tips about their removal? I'm also wondering if anyone knows what the thread pitch, length, and hardness is of the bolts? Volvo wants circa £11 a bolt plus 4-8 week lead time.

I replaced the boot struts today, and did my pre-MOT checks. Nothing needs addressing, obviously - that's the joy of preventative maintenance I guess.

Only need to remove the bushings if you're replacing them, but I assume you are doing that. My favorite method is use a sawzall to cut the outer shell of the bushing, then hammer it out while wedging a couple big screwdrivers between the subframe and the bushing.

It's neat. The VA and NC plates up here are rarely off the road when it snows - my guess is they avoid it entirely which isn't a bad idea. I'm an essential so I will be traveling all 365 days a year, come brimstone, lava, snow, sleet, ice, etc...
