1999 Volvo V70 speed sensor p0722

Post by RB3 »

CEL on. Had codes checked came up with the p0722. Also ETS on. Located the speed sensor but there's no plug at the end of it! It simply goes into a harness and then under a metal piece. Is it possible the connection is under that metal piece? the metal piece is the shape of two slices of pie right on top of the transmission.

Sounds like the sensor connector has either fallen off or been eaten by Norway rats, jealous of Swedish cars

Thanks, Humor is always appreciated.
Really not many pictures or descriptions out there.
I will look inside the harness/tubing tomorrow, its the only place it can be. just doesn't look big enough to contain 5 or 6 wires and a connector.

Yes, Automatic. Thanks for help.
I read another post on here that indicated there might be two transmission sensors?? Though that may have been an 850. It did have a picture of a cluster of wires located around or under the PNP. Not sure I can tackle a wiring project. But need to pass emissions ugh.

Sensor wire goes into cluster with green and yellow and box. so no connecter to check for damage? Time to call mechanic for $$$$ : ( Thought this was a simple one to rule out.

I wouldn't myself to be honest. If i would not have myself skill set and judge capabilities of electrician about electrical stuff i would ask some friend (or friend of friend) who has some experience and stuff laying around to make some replacement ground cable.

You can buy one at an auto parts store for under $10.

If you are near water, you can also find a West Marine store nearby and the pay can make one up for you with wire and lugs fir about $13, even with the boat tax

This has a bit better info, though no picture.
