Would you happen to have a step by step break down of this? I'm having a hard time finding any info or tutorials on doing this.ecbsykes wrote: ↑22 Mar 2019, 20:58 You can remove the main drive shaft, and there is a chance it will stop any noise/vibration. You can leave it like that. Also, there is the option to completely remove the drive shaft AND the transfer case (angle gear). I did this on my car years ago. The issue is that you need to create a system to hold the angle gear sleeve in place, so it doesn't leak fluid. For years I used two worm gear hose clamps linked together and tightened on the passenger's CV axle and pushed up against the angle gear sleeve to keep it in. Recently, a mechanic created a 3D printed model then had a machine shop create a holder for the angle gear sleeve.
Or like you said, you can have the case replaced, but it's not a great system, and expensive to fix. Likely other parts will eventually fail.
Bonne chance!

Removing the angle gear once the axle is out is easy. Just undo all of its bolts going into the transmission and it'll come right off. As far as taking the sleeve out of it and jury rigging it to work, this is what mine looks like:2000V70HELPPLS wrote: ↑13 Jan 2021, 16:35Would you happen to have a step by step break down of this?
