Sv70/960 6 disc CD changer repair, p80 sc-816 cd repair, and other needed info

I will not swap my changer or unit out for aftermarket. Too nice for that. I am having issues with my CD changer though and need help. All 6 discs in the factory sleeve. Disc 1 stopped reading so changer switched to 2, then 3, then I turned it off because it pissed me off. No disc is loaded in the changer itself. I cleaned the eye before reinstalling.
Then I removed the factory 811 (and the CD changer) and installed the p80 sc-816. Of 8 discs, I tried 4 brand new ones and 4 used ones. It won't read anymore than 28sec to 1min 15sec on any of them before acting like the discs are scratched. What to do about this?
Also I'd like to know if someone can supply the wiring harness diagram (not the complicated kind) of the light dimmer control. I didn't keep the harness after stripping out the dashboard wiring.
