Swapped in a new dash with an activated trip computer, hopefully i wont be playing russian roulette anymore in terms of how far i can make it. My tank often reads empty early so hopefully the computer will give me a better estimate.

Had to replace the FP (103) relay in the wife's 855. It spontaneously decided today that it didn't want to run for more than a few seconds, while she was getting ready to leave for the weekly grocery run.

After checking a couple other things (and getting no codes), I dug up a spare out of the garage and the car purred back to life. I ordered a few capacitors from Digikey to replace the ones on the old unit to keep as a spare for later.

As added fun, the wife, who doesn't drive manuals often, got to drive my 854 today. After her initial panic attack about having to drive a manual, she wound up doing OK.

Put my car through its MOT today, which it passed with no advisories. The tester even offered to buy it off me for what equates to roughly triple my purchase price. Tempting, certainly, but I'm not finished with it yet.

Most people i tell about my volvo obsession think I'm a bit odd to like such a unusual car. These are the same people that think its more socially acceptable to be into mustangs or corvettes and what not. Every now and then someone recognizes the 850 and I get a compliment. Its a nice feeling. One guy at autozone tried extremely hard to buy my car. I finally had to walk away because he wouldn't let up.

My V70R gets a LOT of attention from enthusiasts. I've had a couple people try to buy it. Same with my 940 when I had that.
My E39 gets even more attention believe it or not! I drove it to O'Reilly a while back and the guys in the store were talking about it while I was looking at something. I went to check out and ended up talking to them for a while.

Ask for a non-refundable deposit of $2000 for right of first refusal. That sorts that out quickly

My 850's haven't gathered as much attention as my 240's have. My wife has had a couple people ask her about her 855, though.

People go nuts over 240s. My cousin is approached pretty regularly by old guys who think it's the coolest thing ever that it's still on the road. It's a Volvo... of course it's still on the road!

Right after the Ceramic Coating and Angel Eyes an older Costco gas station employee approach my Son (he took the credit card and went by himself) and asked what year it was. He owns a Mini so it peaked his interest.

Have been eyeing Passat W8, Phaeton and CC VR6 4Motions lately.

As a direct result of the BTCC 850s are highly desirable here whilst no-one seems to care about 240s/7/9XXs. Bit of a shame, but the 850 was the only Volvo we saw in domestic motor racing and the only one to get into the heads of the populace.

Oddly, given the relative numbers sold, 240s are more common than 850s, which may also factor in over here.
