Hey

Everything is pressed apart and enjoying the cleaning process ultrasonic style :)
New bearings for the pinion should arrive this Friday ...

With good friends and the right tools everything is possible an quite fun.

Last test drive of old bearings and I'm 99% sure this is the bearing sound that I hear.

Used this guide and the only thing I added was a easier way to take the bearing off closest to pinion gear

Just found the source of the sound, a bad bearing race.

It's always a relief when you actually identify a problem like that!

Angel gear is now back together :)
A couple of highlights from my afternoon assembly

RTV should now cure for 24h, so maybe it will find its way back in the car tomorrow.

Great work, I can't wait to get the results back tomorrow! The part I always dread most is reinstalling the propshaft and Allen bolts.

Best feeling when you get everything sorted. :):):)

So first I fixed this mess, changed the gasket on the oil return from the turbo and the one to the sump.
Then degreased everything.

Then installed the super clean angel gear, looks and feels brand new :)

Then reinstalling the prop shaft and the moment of truth :)
I'm so happy, this feels a lot better then getting another used one. Now I know the status of my angel gear.

Fantastic work!

Including good job changing those turbo return line gaskets while the angle gear was out. Even though they weren't leaking on my cars, I wish i had.
