Electronic gas pedal removal, heater core coupler

Post by 99TurboBrick »

Hello,

Can I assume that it would be safe to remove this plate so as to get access to the heater core firewall coupler?

Still debating on whether or not to install a new firewall coupler or do the by-pass with heater hose. The existing coupler is in very good shape for being 22 years old, so I expect a new one would last me 10+ years at least. This is just preventative maintenance, given that I've just replaced the heater core, heater hoses, etc.

Thanks!

Yes, with a deep socket 10 mm if I remember right.

Make sure the connections on the front of the coupler are good, no cracks in the plastic. There are a lot of o rings to get right, too, so use the parts diagram here. I’ve reused many an original coupler with no problems, but new ones aren’t too expensive , either

Thanks Abscate. The deep well 10mm was for these nuts in the photo below. (A lot of turns to get them off!)

Now that the pedal is off, I'm left with the plate in my original post. So, I'm assuming if I get those 2 bolts that are left out, it'll just come right off.
