Air conditioner doesn't work. 1992 940 turbo

How do I troubleshoot my '92 940 turbo air conditioner? It only blows ambient temperature air. I don't hear the clutch click-on the compressor and wonder if that is the problem. How do I test that possiblity? Could it be a fuse?

On the Internet, I read about some faulty solder joint on the controller? What is that about?

I had the system recharged, oiled, and tested last September. I replaced the in-dash controller above the radio 2 years ago, because nothing worked and it didn't switch between heat and air conditioning. Over the years the air condition has never worked well. I guess it never gets hot in Sweden. Any tips on troubleshooting the system would be greatly appreciated.

My 940 has 162K miles on it.

The easiest way to check is to get one of those recharge cans with the gauge. All you need to do is snap the short hose onto the tap near the receiver drier. You may just be low on 134 and need to gate some into the system. Look at your pressure, the low reading. The can and tap should have instructions, so check them first.

These systems do leak, especially if not turned on during the winter.
