V70 AWD T5 1997 SMF or DMF ?

Post by Fiodor »

Hello everyone!

I'm going to replace the clutch soon, how do I know which parts I need ?

Car's from 03/97, AWD manual with B5204T3 engine (Italian T5).

Here's my VIN: YV1LW4303V2379327

Also, what should I replace while doing the clutch ?
RMS ?

Thanks for everything, this site is better than any psychotherapy (at least for fixing my car !)

Most likely it is SMF as DMS was introduced in 1998. Definitely do RMS no questions asked.

Would this + the FW bolts be enough ?
Also, would anyone have the P/N of the RMS ?

I'm pretty sure all you need to change is the flywheel itself. Everything else is the same between DMF and SMF cars. New bolts a preferred either way, of course. I recommend using the 850R clutch, like you mentioned.
That link shows that it's just for an M90 transmission, but I don't know how different that would be for FWD applications. I know a lot of the RWD guys use M56 flywheels for their white block M90 transmissions.

Assuming your 2.0 T5 uses the same seal as the rest of the white blocks (don't see why it wouldn't), the rear main seal part number is 31480636.

Yes, I would definitely replace that while everything is apart.
