For my T5!turbo C30 2008 v2 (Like R specs.
Would this be a good choice ?
Castrol 03084C Edge 5W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 Quart
Or the IPD
‘Total’ Brand?
Or
This 0-40 Castrol 03101 EDGE 0W-40 A3/B4 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 quart, 1 pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JGQLZSU/re ... GCC7FRBM5H
What would be a great oil for my car?
Do I need to do something when switching from Synthetic to semi synthetic?

Amazed this thread is not heavily populated; engine oil choice ones usually get a lot of traffic!
First off, any of those oils you use would work ok; none holds a massive edge over the other in any way. And "Total" is a reputable brand, sort of the Chevron or possibly Mobil of France. I have Total brand ATF in my 00 XC right now.
Now with regard to oil choice, really the first thing you look at is where you live. If you don't live in a climate where you are starting your car at less than 5 or 10F OFTEN, then you are compromising the robustness of your oil by buying one designed to do so - there's no free lunch anywhere, and that applies to motor oil. Oils designed for difficult winter conditions use otherwise undesirable additives and weaker base stocks to gain that ability. I live in the same climate as you and the minimum oil grade I'd put in one of my cars is 10w-30, and ESPECIALLY a turbo or one with an oiling problem (I have both).
Here's a post I made on the subject at the iPd forum, it's succinct. If you want to learn more on the subject of oil grades, you can also study or ask at BITOG (Bob is the Oil Guy), it's where real oil aficionados fight it out.

We used the following so far and you can't go wrong with either 3.
https://www.amazon.com/Shell-Rotella-Sy ... 373&sr=8-4
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/5w-40- ... oly-lm3864
https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-03101-0W ... 189&sr=8-6
The Castrol is what we are using at this time. The least expensive and quietest. The others are just as well if your weather is on warmer side. The Castrol does have a slight Edge when the weather is cooler.

I've been running this oil for the past three years we've had our 07 S40. We only do once a year oil changes because we drive about 3500 miles a year. Doesn't burn at all and doesn't seem to get dirty either. I definitely trust this oil.
